GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP
In celebration of Earth Day in the spring, KIC joins all Keep America Beautiful affiliates across the country by sponsoring the Great American Cleanup in Islip Township. The GAC is the nation's largest organized community improvement program and every year KIC volunteers roll up their sleeves to improve our quality of life, as they clean up litter-strewn areas and beautify their communities.
KIC supports over 2,500 volunteers annually throughout Islip Township during GAC who pick up litter, plant flowers, clean seashores and waterways, beautify parks and recreation areas, initiate recycling projects and participate in educational programs. They join over 2 million people improving 15,000 communities across the nation each year. As with all KIC events, volunteers are supplied with trash bags, gloves, safety vests and other materials to ensure safe, effective cleanups.
The GAC runs from March 1 through May 31, with most events taking place in Earth Month April. Please join your neighbors and friends in making a positive difference in your community every spring.
