It is to Keep Islip Clean (KIC), a not-for-profit, community service organization dedicated to a cleaner, prouder Islip Township.
KIC, a certified affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., with hundreds of dedicated volunteers, work all year round picking up roadside litter, planting flowers, painting over graffiti, cleaning our wetlands and improving the quality of life for all 18 hamlets of Islip.
Our goals are to (1) positively change behavior through education and example, (2) raise awareness about the effect an uncaring attitude toward littering has on our quality of life, and (3) encourage the values of ownership, service and civic responsibility among residents.
KIC programs have been developed to encourage participation at the grass-roots level, providing residents with the opportunity to be an active part of the solution to the blight of littering and enable them to clean, beautify and demonstrate pride in their own hometown.
